The Wild Wild West
The Wild Wild West aired from 1965 to 1969 and was one of the most unique westerns in television history.
The show was a western, but ingeniously introduced other genres ranging from adventure & espionage to science fiction & suspense. James West (Robert Conrad) and his aide and inventor, Artemus Gordon (Martin Ross) were secret service agents working directly under President Grant, combing the western frontier in their special secret service train and fighting villains of all sorts. Of course while many of the inventions and sinister plots may seem hard to believe that they happened in the 1800's, we will always wonder if there was a bit of truth to all that. After all, James and Arty were in the Secret Service, and all their missions were highly classified operations, covered under the cloak of state secrecy!
