Miracle of the Heart - A Boys Town Story directed by Georg Stanford Brown
Boys Town was founded in 1917 in Omaha Nebraska, by Father Edward Joseph Flanagan (1886-1948), a Catholic priest born in Ireland. Boys Town has inspired the making of three motion pictures: Boys Town (1938) starring Spencer Tracy and Men of Boys Town starring Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney, and Miracle of the Heart, starring Art Carney, whose performance as Fr. O'Halleran is excellent; simple, down to earth and right straight to the heart!.
Miracle of the Heart deals with the Boys Town of today, but recalls the fundamental ideals of Father Flanagan which have not changed: «There are no bad boys. There is only bad enviornment, bad training, bad example and bad thinking.» Fr. O'Halleran was saved by Fr. Flanagan, and now faces retirement and struggles to keep the methodology of the "Monsignor" Flanagan alive.
The powerfull message of God's love, love and total dedication for the youth, forgiveness and understanding is at the heart of this wonderful Boys Town film.
